Studying abroad offers a unique opportunity for both academic and personal growth, making it a truly life-changing experience. During my time as a student in the Netherlands, I grew in ways I never expected—not just through my studies, but also through active involvement in various organizations as a board member, chairwoman, and secretary.

Of course, the journey wasn’t without its challenges—failures and learning experiences played a crucial role in shaping who I am today.

 

Studying in the Netherlands as a student from the Dutch Caribbean? Let’s be real—it’s not always smooth sailing. Culture shock, language barriers, picking the wrong study program, unmet expectations, and lack of study skills—yep, I’ve been there too! Unfortunately, despite the incredible talent and potential of our students, too many struggle to complete their studies because of these challenges.

Halfway through my own study journey, I knew I wanted to make a difference. That’s why, for my bachelor’s thesis, I researched the well-being and academic success of Aruban students in the Netherlands. After earning my degree in 2020 and returning to Aruba, I followed my heart and took this research further—leading to the founding of MindSpark.

 

During my time abroad, I learned how important it is to feel heard, supported, and surrounded by people who truly care. Now, with MindSpark, I’m here to help students navigate their study abroad adventure with confidence! Through coaching and consultancy services, I support students who are preparing to study in the Netherlands and those already there—ensuring they can overcome obstacles, unlock their full potential, and thrive. Let’s turn challenges into growth and make the most of this life-changing experience together.
